Attendees Stuck in Waiting room When Screen is being Shared

Issue

  • Attendees cannot view the Organizer's screen
  • Screen sharing is not smooth

Objective

  • Microsoft Windows

Procedure

Answer

Cause

Graphics card and Direct X updates do not solve Windows graphics card driver crashes, or causes poor screen sharing results when viewing a presentation.

Resolution

  1. Update the graphics driver from the computer's website support section (i.e. Dell, HP, Asus, etc)
  2. Reboot and re-test
  3. If the issue persists, download GDI Render patch
  4. Extract the .zip file
  5. Right mouse click render_mode_gdi.reg and select Merge (or similar depending on the Windows version)
  6. Press Yes on the dialog box
  7. Press OK on the next dialog box
  8. Reboot and re-test.

Note: This can be undone by following step 5-8 with render_mode_undo.reg (also included in the GDI Render patch download)
